Anne Frank Museum

Of course, a trip to Amsterdam is not complete without visiting a museum. We went to the Anne Frank House. Last year though, we were able to go to the Van Gogh Museum and Stedlijk Museum. Cameras were not allowed inside so here's just a few shots from outside and while we were walking.

culture difference note:
Stores mostly close at 6:00pm in The Netherlands, except for a few Cafes that serve dinner, (and of course except for the Red Light District). And on Sundays, stores are closed too, unless they have a "special permit", which is quite rare. And, they have no such thing as "Midnight Sale"!

Travel by Tram

Going around Amsterdam, the best way is to travel by tram. If you stay longer, like a week or so, you can also rent a bike. Bikes are everywhere! I even saw a canal clean up today where a boat is full of bikes found at the bottom of canals! I was too shy to take a photo of it though but it was funny! Here are a few shots I took while inside a tram.

Trams are a bit cross between a train and a bus. Here's what a tram looks like (taken while waiting for one)

Here's a little blurry reflection of me... See the cute skirt and boots?

culture difference note:
Taxi rides are extremely expensive! If in Manila, a cab's plug down rate is 30 php only (0.40 euro cents), in The Netherlands, the plug down is around 10 euros (699.50 php).

Dinosaur Jr. at Paradiso

First night... another dream come true! We watched Dinosaur Jr. at Paradiso! (see the tour dates from their official site) The coolest gig place on the planet and one of the coolest bands ever!

Ok, based on our taste. (Ha!) He just have ALL their albums on CD and Vinyl. And I on mp3.

Anyway, here are some photos. Sorry the shots are not that clear. I only used my nokia.

After their concert, we also saw another band, Dead Confederate on the other side of the venue.

Awesome night! What a nice way to start a vacation huh?!

culture difference note:
Beer is served not in bottles, not in plastic cups, but in fiber glass! And they throw it away. (I did not though. Ha!
